Prove me wrong.

It's not often that I issue a direct challenge to my blog followers, but I'm doing it today.

Prove me wrong. Prove me wrong that Surge-Needle Ring and Sealing Ring of Grobbulus, both 10-man drops from their respective bosses, are not best-in-slot and have no peer amongst 25-man ring drops.

Because I'm facing heavy resistance from some people I know to continue raiding 10-man content once our 25-man runs begin in earnest, and I'm adamant in my conclusion that SNR and SRoG are my best-in-slot rings. (For that matter, Chestguard of Flagrant Prowess is, IMO, my best-in-slot chest, which is from 10-man Sarth2D.)

If I'm missing something glaringly obvious, give me ye olde kick-in-the-ass. But I want these rings fiercely, and if my capacity for good 10-man Naxx/EoE raids are stripped away...

Hit is what makes comparison a little unbalanced. I looked at all the 213 level rings (except for the PvP), and agree with you that the Surge Needle is the best: 153 AP, 1% hit, 1.4% crit. That knocks out a talent point!

The other can be argued. Ring of Invincibility is a direct upgrade from SRoG in AP (140 AP vs 136 AP), haste (.7% vs 1.3%), and crit (1.26% vs 1.27%), but not in Agility, so the SRoG has slightly better scaling that puts it on par with RoI for crit with Kings, but RoI still beats it for AP and haste.

The Strong-Handed Ring is okay for a mixture of hit, haste, and crit, with the most agility of the bunch; and Greatring of Collusion has Armor Pen and a socket, so that's of mixed opinion.

Oops, I switched around my numbers:

Ring of Invincibility is a direct upgrade from SRoG in AP (140 AP vs 136 AP), haste (1.3% vs .7%), and crit (1.27% vs 1.26%)

as long as you can get upgrades from them go for it.

i dont see what the problem with running an instance on your own time as long as you can get an upgrade from it. in fact that seems to benefit the guild, so they should be glad.

Bah, it figures that the ring I'd overlook would be from god damned Emblems. -_-;

Oh well, I can still argue 10-man EoE runs due to Black Ice for the other Hunters (I wouldn't touch that thing) and SNR.

also, the best in slot chest is the chest from 3 drake sarth (25man). if you itemize for best in slot everything, you end up with surge needle + ring of invincibility. not to mention that black ice becomes best in slot once you put every other best in slot item on your hunter.

correction, the chest is the 10 man drop not 25, got confused.

Sarth2D and Sarth3D have the exact same drop table, aside from the Reins of the Black/Twilight Drake (and the title).

The chest you mention is the one I linked in this post.

And no, Journey's End >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Black Ice.

Once the patch hits, though I am really loving the massive amount of hit on Black Ice.

the hit is what puts BI over the top ... by a very slim margin but still better. assuming the very best gear at all slots, you're going to come up way short on your hit budget with that staff, even with hit gems, you'll break about even. at either case, the best rings end up being SNR and Strong Handed Ring, again, b/c of the hit.

Gotta say I'm with Neggles on this one. Anything that gives an extra talent point is win.
