Been a while since I did one of these "this is how I DPS, and I think it's a good way to DPS, so maybe try it?" kind of posts, but here goes.
3.0.8 has shaken up how we do things - how all Hunters do things. I've had to adapt in my own way, and the Four-Shot Priority Rotation (FSPR) is a result of that.
Simply stated, the FSPR is: A priority rotation of a Marksmanship Hunter's four offensive shots - Chimera over Arcane over Aimed over Steady.
Now, why that priority? Simple. Chimera is the MM ace in the hole, and with the new buff to Glyph of Serpent Sting (which if you don't have it, get off SES and go buy one NOW), our Chimera-Serpent effects are starting to be a huge factor - last night on Patchwerk, I got a 9100 damage Chimera with a 4500 damage Chimera-Serpent component. You want one of these fired every 10 seconds, on the dot, no questions asked. Just do it.
Next is Arcane. With the decrease in mana cost and the Glyph of Arcane Shot, this thing is as cheap as a Steady Shot, but hits a fair deal harder. Plus, it's magical like Chimera, so it bypasses armor and gets a boost from Curse of Elements or Earth and Moon. Demand these debuffs in your raid, if you can!
Thirdly is Aimed. Aimed and I have had an on-again, off-again relationship here in Wrath, but I think it's on for good now. Roughly the same damage as Arcane after 5 Sunders and a Sting, the reason I prioritize Arcane over Aimed is that Aimed is expensive and has a 10s cooldown unlike Arcane's 6s. If Arcane is harder, faster, and cheaper, it gets priority over Aimed. But Aimed is still more DPS than Steady spam, so weave it in!
Lastly is Steady. You can't fill in every GCD with Arc/Aim/Chim alone, so Steady is still useful. Plus, it procs ISS, which is definitely nice.
Engineers who have put a Hyperspeed Accelerator on their gloves and have a cache of bombs to rival the US may want to mimic my macro of "/use Handgrips of the Savage Emissary; /use Saronite Bomb" (but use a line break, not a semicolon) - replacing my Handgrips with the name of your gloves. Hit this every minute, and chunk bombs - like I said, nearly 3% of my 3650 DPS on Patchwerk last night was from bombs!
So if you're one of the new Marksman who's a refugee from the BM camp of thought, I invite you to try my 7/57/7 (switching the point in Silencing for a point in Rapid Recuperation if you think Silencing is not a PVE talent), and try the FSPR. Go make a date with one of the training dummies and see what you think.
And as always, lemme know if you have questions, comments, concerns, death threats, marriage proposals, *stung by Ayamiss*

Considering moving the three points from Imp. Steady Shot to Barrage - thoughts?
I'm learning more and more about my new spec from reading your blog. I've been a BM hunter ever since I rolled my toon a year ago and it will always hold a special place but I've developed a love of marksman as well.
So glyph of serpent sting and glyph of arcane shot...what about that third glyph? With steady shot being so low on the priority and the fact that it STILL doesn't work with marked for death, is that glyph even worth it or would I be better off in investing in something like Glyph of Aimed Shot or TSA?
That's it. I'm taking the leap and trying your spec out to see if it's time to go crawling back to MM like the good old days.
Shagrat: It DOES work with Marked for Death now!
And yes, I use Glyph of Steady as my third major. Considering GoAS or GoTSA in exchange, but I gotta do math.
Jubilations! Looks like I got some glyphs to rework after work. :)
I'm going to have fun using my wasp and raptor.
Neggles: The spreadsheet shows that as a 31 DPS downgrade for me. Your results may vary.
im still having questions about your usage of aimed shot and your value of it over steady. i wonder if not using it except for situational fights (ie. boss heals itself), would the improved chance of procing increase the dps. naturally, the longer the fight, the more attractive steady is over aimed (due to mana and more opportunities to proc).
also, would dropping 4 points from efficiency and using those to get aspect mastery be more dps? not only will you gain 90 ap (before other talents), but you will also do 20% more individual damage while in viper. i would think that those added stats would give more dps than reducing the mana cost of all abilites by 8%.

Actually, and you'll laugh, but I see more of a gain dropping Improved Steady and Silencing for Aspect Mastery than dropping Efficiency for it.
Hehe, looks like Rilgon is livin' it up right now eh?
Between the Bomb box and the MM tree shining once more, I think this is a good time for you.
Plus, you have a huge variety of pets to choose from!
honestly, you should be pulling a lot more than just 3600 dps.
In 10-mans, with only ilvl 200 gear, and sub-standard raid compositions? Not bloody likely unless I respec and use a broken pet, both of which I refuse to do.
Dearest Rilgon,
Please marry me.
What?! You said anything.
Yeah, it sounds great, and I'm gonna run some tests (now with FRAPS!) and see how it goes. With so few steady shots, ISS may go down the tube.
So many new things to do! God I love MM. I just wish we could fucking raid, this lag/DC issue is driving me mad.

It's funny that people often throw out the "you should be" comments without thinking about how much of a difference group composition makes. To compare 5 man and 25 man is apples and oranges. They forget what their dps was when they were in heroic's gear and pretend that last weeks 25 man Patchwerk in 213/226 gear with a min-max'd group is how their DPS always was. Ya I was born with 6k deeps.
Anyways, about those bombs, do you have to target the ground to toss them, like how Volley target's, or is it a simple click and toss?
I ask because if it doesn't waste more than a Global Cooldown then it would be a huge dps increase, but if they are like the old bombs I remember you had to click and then target and click again. I would guess that it would waste 2 or 3 Global Cooldowns and then be a loss in dps.
