Cunning pets overall just are a waste of code at this point. Roar of Recovery is useful, but at a 6min cooldown makes it a drop in the bucket.
While 400 dps is low, you are making the assumption that anything that isn’t a raiding pet is a waste of code. Those pets weren’t intended to be for raiding – that’s what Ferocity pets are for. Thanks for all of the numbers though, Neruse.

In the hunter case, it may be that they do scale just fine but it is irrelevant because we are rebalancing hunters for 3.1.

ive already gotten my "alt" up to 80 (and made it my main, i love playing dk too much). which brings me to

this scares me, if i have to watch threat in 10 mans like a hawk (after a few min in), then if they improve the threat generating ease of dks, im afraid of how easy ill have to dps. hopefully they just increase the threat caused in frost presence (if not, they are retarded, which is why im scared).

ROFL.. well as for alts.. I just decided to start over. I felt that Brigwyn the NElf had basically gone as far as he could go. So why not start over and this time maybe with a twist.
So.. the new Brigwyn is on Coilfang, PVP server with a HUGE Horde:Alliance ratio.. So I'm sure to be running around being ganked as soon as I hit 20. :P
Anywyas.. alts can be a fun distraction. Especially, when being a hunter gets to be a bit too much at times.
