You know, I thought Ghostcrawler actually had it right.

But apparently he's just as blind and idiotic as any other developer.

"As I have suggested a few times, we are concerned that hunters of all 3 specs are doing damage that is clearly superior to other classes. While we're trying to achieve closer parity among specs of all classes with regard to dps, and we want to particularly make sure that hunters, rogues, mages and locks are not left behind, we do think the hunters are too far ahead, particularly at 80, in good gear, when raid-buffed.

However, we have also tried to give hunters a substantial survivability boost in PvP and we don't want to do anything that hurts them too much in PvP.

So here are changes you will most likely see soon:

1) Ranged attacks no longer benefit from the haste effects of Windfury Totem and Improved Icy Talons. This is a nerf to hunter white damage.

2) We are also improving the armor on level 83 raid bosses by 10%. This will be a nerf to the dps of any class that does physical damage. For classes that would slide behind with such a change, we'll take steps to adjust them -- though it probably isn't as many as you think. The raid buff stacking overhaul was very beneficial to melee (and hunters). Sunder / Expose Armor alone can be a 20%+ dps increase, which is why we decided to attack the problem from this angle."

This is possibly the most laughable bundle of contradictions, self-lies, and horseshit I've ever seen GC spew. First off, it's not anywhere close to helping to ensure "closer parity between specs" - this yet AGAIN makes Beast Mastery the fucking prominent spec, since Serpent's Swiftness is going to be mandatory to get us down to the GCD cap. Secondly, expanding on what I said, it's not just a nerf to white damage if you're MM or SV - we rely on Steady as the bulk of our rotations, and now this is gonna nerf Steady by a good 20% too! So now we're taking a 20% nerf on 65-70% of our damage! Very raw math shows this to be a roughly 15% overall DPS nerf, and we BARELY beat Rogues/Warriors/Ret Paladins/Frostfire Mages by 300-500 DPS! Assuming the best Hunter parse on the Patchwerk scoreboard (5472 DPS, MM Hunter), that puts us at 4651.2 DPS - below Arms and Fury Warriors, Mutilate Rogues, Frostfire Mages, and Ret Paladins on that scoreboard! And a few places below 4650, in the area of 4200, you see Ret Paladins and Frost DKs - AND THEY'RE NOT FULLY EPICED!

And there's other posts by GC that I'll let you go look at MMO-C's BlueTracker to find, but suffice it to say, there's a lot of PVE nerfing mindset in the dev team, and if they keep it up, you're gonna see a lot of Hunters losing raid spots pretty soon. Because, after all, what do we bring to the table other than crazy amounts of ranged DPS? Misdirection?

hahahahaha, yeah, right.

Welcome to Disgruntled Raiding Hunters Anonymous. No, we don't have cookies. Just bitterness.

We need to make a blogging community called that.

Or, better yet, a communal Wordpress where we can all publish.

Grrr...

I usually don't whine about things I can't control, but that's pretty damn unfair. I don't think it will make BM more powerful, though, since pets will now hit for less, too. Plus we get armor reduction from the MM tree, so I don't think a simple SS will be better. Should be about the same, since from what you posted, all they're changing is target armor. The lack of WF won't be so bad. We'll just have to pick up more haste gear. Hopefully it's available in WotLK...

Depressing =/

Atleast on the bright side Ril, KoV doesn't min max, so we'll always have a spot as long as we sign up.

"take the player not the spec.."

We've been ahead of the curve :-)

@Nass

Please, please tell me that was sarcasm... There is nothing BUT haste gear in Wrath >.<

Haha, well sweet, Neggles!

I don't look at spoilers like that. Or at least, I try not to. I like surprises! =P

@ Rilg,

How do I link WoWhead Items and Spells on my blog, oh Wise One?

Rilgon Arcsinh said...

You need to go to http://www.wowhead.com/?powered and follow their directions. :)

Then just hot-link to the item/spell's URL and it'll mouse-over.

@ Nass - I heard it doesn't work on Wordpress.com blogs, I might be wrong though-- just an advance warning >.>

BRK is based off of Wordpress and it works just fine on his blog. o_O;

Pike said...

@ Rilgon - Yar, his is self-hosted Wordpress, as is mine. I mean the ones hosted on Wordpress.com =P I have heard of some people having trouble with it.

Oh. Durr.

I wonder if it's possible to take the Blogger platform to a self-hosted solution. No offense, but I can't stand Wordpress's layout.

It would certainly be something worth looking into. There were definitely things about Blogger that I liked much better than Wordpress, but also vice versa... when it comes down to blog-hosting sites Blogger is yards ahead though, I think. Wordpress is really for self-hosting customization nuts (which is probably why mine doesn't look too hot >.>)

Wow, thanks guys! lol Lemme see if it works. If it doesn't...well...oh well. Yeah, wordpress.com was the first to come up when I googled free blog hosting, so that's what I started using. I don't really know much about it yet. I've played with HTML for a few years and CSS for a few less, but this whole web networking thing is new to me. Anyway, thanks for the hand-hold.

Does this mean that IAotH is now mandatory in any MM build?

Rilgon Arcsinh said...

In theory, yes, but to rely upon a proc to actually get down to the haste cap is idiotic.

Weird: So, my mouse-overs work just fine on my home computers, but when I look at them from a Mac on campus, they do that "Item not found" error.

WTF?

Rilgon Arcsinh said...

Because you're using a Mac. Duh.

Neggles said...

Then you admit that my mouse-overs do function! Ha!
