So get this. I've got this issue I'm handling at work. Apparently, this guy managed to get his server compromised, right? Virused out, it's being used in a botnet, the whole nine yards. We cut him off at the switch level and tell him that until he reinstalls his OS, he can't have access.
Fine, we start reloading his OS. Problems go down with our automated installer process. It happens - Windows ADS is not fool-proof (what with windows IS?). We explain that we're trying to fix it.
Then this guy calls us and goes into The Beast Within rage mode. Starts yelling about how he makes "4000 dollars of sales a day" through the server, the fact that it's offline is crippling his business, blah blah blah blah blah. More whining than Mages on patch day.
So I, in the back of my mind, ask myself: If you are making 4000 dollars a day, why don't you spend some money and get a redundant backup of your current server? Hell, a server with us at MAX is only about 900 dollars a month (and the one he has is way cheaper) - the "6000 dollars" he claims he's lost due to the delays would pay for a duplicate of his server for over a year. If you're really making that much money, how on earth can you justify NOT having redundancy? Christ.

Because people are stupid.
If he doesn't have to think outside the box, he won't. Why don't people buy insurance for their $150 cell phones? Because it's fine *now*.
*shakes head in disgust*
