Beta 8982 - The "You're moving WHAT to WHICH TREE?!" patch

Skills
Marksmanship
* Kill Shot required level changed from 71 to 75 for Rank 1, to 80 for Rank 2
* Scorpid Sting now reduces the chance to hit with melee and ranged attacks by 3%. (Down from 5%)


Survival
* Explosive shot damage has been reduced. (eg. [20% of RAP + 273] and [5% of RAP + 68] AOE damage to [8% of RAP + 238] + [2% of RAP + 59] AOE damage for Rank 4)
* Freezing Arrow now creates a trap that has a chance to break on damage. (Old - 100% chance to break on damage)


Talents
Survival
* Lock and Load now give you a 100% chance when you trap a target and a 15% chance when you deal periodic damage with your Serpent Sting to cause your next 2 Arcane Shot or Explosive Shot to trigget no cooldown, cost no mana, and consume no ammo.
* T.N.T. doesn't increase the critical strike chance of Explosive Trap anymore
* Improved Tracking now only increases all non-periodic damage. (Old - All damage)


Beast Mastery
* Separation Anxiety has been removed.
* *New talent* - Kindred Spirits (Tier 10) - Increases your pet's damage by 4/8/12/16/20% and you and your pet's movement speed by 2/4/6/8/10% while your pet is active.


Marksmanhip
* Rapid Recuperation has been changed from 3 to 2 points. Now Reduces the mana and focus cost of all shots and abilities by you and your pet by 30/60% (Old - 20/40/60%) while under the effect of Rapid Fire, and you gain 2% of your mana every 2 sec for 6 sec when you gain Rapid Killing.


Upcoming hunter changes (Not in this build)
* Aimed Shot - This shot will now be instant cast, its damage/effect/cooldown will remain unchanged.
* Scatter shot - This will now be an 11-point Survival talent.
* Readiness - This will now be the 21-point Marksmanship talent.
* Trap Mastery - This will now be the 41-point Survival talent. Granted, not very sexy for a 41-pointer but we'll do some changes there in a future patch (after WOLK ships).



Now, primarily, I want to draw you to the "upcoming changes" part.

THEY ARE MOVING SCATTER TO SURVIVAL. AND READINESS, OF ALL THINGS, TO MM.

Now now Rilgon. The great irony of this, for me, is how use to not having Scatter I have become. Once I go back to Marks, I'll be comfortable with not having it! >.<

Whilst I know that you're not a PvPer, this move is a god send for MM specced PvP hunters, but does throw into sharp relief the need for Scatter Shot for PvE, I assume that you use it for 5 man trapping etc.

Plus, the Aimed Shot change, err, w00t much? Now we really do have a Mortal Strike, plus we'll be able to fit it much more snugly into proper shot rotations.

Although, I do agree, Readiness seems a little out of place within the MM tree.

Except, unless they go back on an entire expansion pack of saying that Aimed Shot was no longer a shot to be used in a rotation, it will still reset the Auto Shot timer and thusly still be atrocious for PVE.

And I'm still not taking it. :P

How could an instant shot stop the auto shot timer though?

I demand tests!

Personally, I think of this as a Distraction Shot away from the real issues: They took away our damage and our new fun abilities, like Camouflage.

Readiness going to Marks makes no sense...no sense at all.

The big Buzz about this patch was actually the explosive shot nerf. After the last round of nerfage, explosive shot stood out as the shining hope for hunter dps. It was doing up to 45 percent of SV raid dps, and SV hunters were the only spec competitive with 'lock/rogue/mage dps in beta 25's.

Now explosive's been nerfed into the ground, and nothing else has been buffed to take its place. So now we have BM with underwhlming top-tree talents, MM without the capability to crack 1200 dps without going OOM, and suvival emasculated of its defining dps shot.

I'm having a HELL of a time persuading the hunters in my guild not to re-roll en masse for wrath. :(

Well Mir, if you noticed how I would take scattershot over Readiness, I can't complain. Look on the bright side: At least they realized readiness isn't worth a 41 point talent. Neither is trap mastery.
