They did it! They changed it!!!!

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=8430105938&sid=2000&pageNo=4

Look at post 62.

"Instant damage reduced from 150% to 125% but now refreshes the sting, and triggers an effect"

Now, I bet you that it's still a 10-second cooldown (which means it'll still do bugger-all for our mana efficiency), but they did it! I can keep Serpent up ad infiniteum and use it to ramp up my Chimera damage and make it a very viable Arcane Shot replacement!

Now I get to redesign my whole talent spec, because Multi-Shot is out and Chimera is in!

Edit: I think this is the build for me. http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/hunter/talents2.html?tal=502000000000000000000000000353052002350100531050313515300000000000000000000000000

Raid-wide TSA, a USEFUL Silencing Shot, Chimera to ramp up my damage, and all the other nummy talents I like. If only Improved Steady and Marked for Death worked with Chimera! :( - EDIT: IT ACTUALLY DOES, OH MY GOD, HAPPY RILGON IS FUCKING HAPPY

Edit 2: Did it with the WoW talent calculator because WoWhead doesn't have an update for the new push yet. Dropped 3/3 Imp Hunter's Mark for 3/3 Improved Stings - go figure THAT out.

Edit 3: THIS IS ALL I HAVE TO SAY ABOUT ANYTHING EVER*goes nuts*

So, I've always been curious, why the points to Imp MM? For pet damage? Raid utility assuming the other hunters aren't already specced into it?

I feel like it's comparable to going 2/2 into CE (giggle) with a point else where.

I dunno, I just like Improved Hunter's Mark for some reason, especially for 5-mans and stuff.

Depending on what the change to Rapid Recuperation looks like, I may get that instead. Who knows.

Oh, and this:

Koraa - "The disarm will work on bosses. Well, bosses/NPC's that can be disarmed, anyways.

Every spec should be using a sting and a shot in their rotations (along with Steady). Beast - Arcane, Marks - Chimera, Survival - Explosive. None of those shots should reset your swing/shot timer (aka clip). There may be some issues with the mana cost of the shot and if it's worth using, that's what we're working on now."

No more clipping for an additional will be a beautiful thing :D.

Actually, I just saw that Improved Stings is now a 3-point talent.

9% more damage on my Chimera Shots? I really can't pass THAT up. :)

Oh, no, I'm wrong, it's 12% more damage to Chimera.

Well, not STRICTLY 12% more damage, but it's 12% more to the Serpent Sting-granting bonus, so quit looking at me like that. >_>;

Hmm... I don't plan on ever using Serpent Stings in raid, except in desperate situations. Viper Sting, perhaps, but what if the boss doesn't have mana? Not sure if the Imp Sting points are worth it, for me at least.

Look at it this way, though - my math is working out that Serpent Sting at 80 will be doing something like 2.5k over the course of the 12 seconds or whatever.

Plus, with Chimera, you pay for it exactly once, and Chimera does all the refreshing for you.

AND they're making it EVEN STRONGER in the next Beta push!

Everything really remains to be seen. I've said it before, just have to wait it out for testing testing testing :).

Glad you're keeping on it though!

Well DUH!

You really expect me, one of the most obnoxious, vocal, and outspoken Marksmen to NOT be paying attention to what is possibly the biggest revamp to the MM tree EVER?

Neggles said...

LOL of course not!

I've just been lax on doing my own research, so I'm just glad I can read it through you :P.
