It's sad how many new players will roll a hunter, go immediately into BM without looking back. They don't even know their own class and just plunge blindly in. A BM guildie started playing with BC and stated that he was thinking about taming a caster-stats windserpent, since obviously they cast lightning breath, they need stats like int and spirit, right? /facepalm I wonder if he's ever even looked at the pet tab of his character sheet.
Actually, funny thing about that.
Caster-stat Wind Serpents run off of Spell Crit to crit with Lightning Breath. If you give the pet AI/etc, it actually does a fair bit more DPS at the cost of some health.
Just something to chew on.
Assuming that 80 Int provides roughly 1% crit (as it applies to caster classes), I'd like to see some numbers before I concede utility :S.

One reason I hate being a hunter is because people like him give hunters a bad name. Out of all classes the one with the most "noobs", for lack of better word, is hunter imo.
Anyways sucks Hourglass isn't dropping for you, I had a hard time trying to get it as well.
So, I went out and tamed a lvl 70 Nether Ray in SMV for comparison. At 133 Int, he has 5% spell crit. I'm not sure what sort of scaling is used, since at 33 Int, my regular Wind Serpent accordingly has 0% spell crit, whereas according to that scaling, it should have at least 1%.
I did notice nearly a 100 difference in Stam though. That's a lot of HP to give up for a nice amount of crit :(.
lol Sorry for continuing this Rilgon! (I need to procrastinate somehow I suppose.) Found the posts on both the Offical forums and Big Red Kitty. In terms of the long haul, I'm still partial to survivability over damage.
But w/e it's not like it's ever going to affect me :D.
